Louisiana Pain Specialists is proud to welcome Dr. Erik Davis
Louisiana Pain Specialists Welcomes Dr. Erik A. Davis
After training outside of New Orleans for almost a decade, Dr. Erik Davis is proud to return to his hometown of New Orleans and to join the team at Louisiana Pain Specialists. Dr. Davis is fascinated by the challenge of medicine, the complexity of the human body, and being able to work with his hands through procedures and the ability to be a lifelong learner in the field.
Growing up in the New Orleans area, Dr. Davis was initially drawn to the medical profession as an athlete playing football and wrestling up until he graduated from Brother Martin High School. Injuries caused him to have four knee surgeries and two pins placed in his ankle. “I really appreciated the doctor that was able to get me back to – at the time – what was most important to me: playing sports.”
He earned his Medical Degree from Meharry Medical College after completing his undergraduate studies and Xavier University in Louisiana. Dr. Davis then completed a year of surgical internship training at Morehouse School of Medicine, followed by residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Alabama – Birmingham. He joined the National Spine & Pain Centers in Virginia after completing an interventional spine and sports medicine fellowship at Alabama Orthopedic Spine and Sports Medicine Associates. Dr. Davis has mastered a number of procedures including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar epidurals, facet joint treatments including medial branch blocks and radiofrequency ablation, intradiscal injections, sympathetic blocks, kyphoplasty, spinal cord stimulation, and ultrasound guided joint injections. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and fellowship-trained in Pain Management.
Like the doctor who helped him in his youth, Dr. Davis aims to be the person that can restore function to patients. “I’m dedicated to helping you get back to your functions – let’s quickly discover the source of your pain and immediately treat it in the least invasive way.”
