Process for Receiving Personal Injury Care
- PI email or phone call received from the attorney’s office.
- A letter of protection is obtained from the attorney covering services OR medical insurance information is provided to cover services. We can also work with a funding company, we are contracted with several local and national funding companies.
- With new attorney firms, we require a good faith deposit of $450.00 for the initial consultation for each client. Once your client is seen in the office, we may continue to bill the firm under a LOP or through a funding company of their choice for the follow-up visits. At any time, the attorney firm can contact us to find the balance, and negotiate payment arrangements or the progress in a treatment plan. Once Louisiana Pain Specialists and the firm have an established, healthy relationship, we can waive this deposit and hold all papers until the case is settled with a Letter of Protection.
- Medical records are obtained to include any radiology reports.
- A new referral is added to the PrognoCIS referral system with all required documents attached.
- The patient is called for a new patient appointment. The patient is emailed/texted appointment confirmation with appointment and registration details.
- The patient is seen in the office; once office notes are completed and signed off typically within 24-48 hours, an email is generated to the patient’s attorney with a SharePoint link (if the attorney’s office prefers, documents are attached to the email instead of SharePoint) providing the office note, billing HCFA form, any orders, a summary of the recommendations, estimate for the procedural recommendations are provided for either in office or at a surgery center, and the patient’s scheduled appointments.
- Approval is required from the attorney in writing to proceed with any procedural recommendations prior to scheduling them. Attorney would facilitate any outgoing referrals such as MRIs, physical therapy, specialists’ referrals, etc.
Louisiana Pain Specialists Can Help
Louisiana Pain Specialists is Louisiana’s premiere pain management center with 7 convenient clinic locations. Our elite team of specialists successfully treat various chronic and acute pain conditions.
We are built upon 3 basic tenets of practice: An accurate working diagnosis, a balanced approach utilizing appropriate medications and interventions aimed at improving quality of life, and sustainability of practices, making sure no patient is started on medications or therapies that are not substantiated with results.
Often chronic pain patients are subjected to the diagnostic merry-go-round, having been seen by their primary care physician, neurosurgeon, physical medicine doctor, and many others. We operate on the principal that an accurate diagnosis is crucial to achieve the best pain relief for patients.
What sets us apart is that we welcome the challenging patients that may have failed many previous treatments. Conditions like failed back surgery syndrome, post-herpetic neuralgia, refractory back pain, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, multi-factorial neck pain, and many others are welcome to the practice.
We pride ourselves on taking the time to fully understand the origins of a patient’s pain and to develop a plan of care. We believe that through a multi-disciplinary approach, our patients come much closer to their goal of pain relief.
